Born in Elgin, Scotland, and raised in Cupar, Fife, Pastor Gibson became a Christian at 30, having spent his early adulthood living in the “far country” with no reference to God. He was converted while reading Mark’s gospel in conjunction with the Christianity Explored course.
Having obtained a business degree in Edinburgh, he worked as a journalist in London and later in management consultancy - firstly for one of the “big six”, as they were then known, and later as co-Director of a small change management consultancy firm. After ten years in the business world, he began to sense God’s call to pastoral ministry. He studied divinity at the University of St. Andrews and was ordained into the Church of Scotland but left the denomination in 2011 due to its departure from Scripture. After a summer spent serving a church in Cyprus with Middle East Reformed Fellowship (MERF), he then enjoyed 12 and a half years pastoring Knox Church Perth, a congregation of the Free Church of Scotland, at which time he completed his Masters in Theology at Edinburgh Theological Seminary under the tutelage of Dr. Sinclair Ferguson. Called to be Senior Pastor at Town North Presbyterian Church in June 2025, Paul is married to Debbie and they have two adult children: Dylan, a police officer in Edinburgh and Rebecca, a student at Queen Margaret University. He enjoys reading the puritans, golf, soccer (football!) and life in Texas.
