PASTOR: The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD is on his heavenly throne.

PEOPLE: He observes the sons of men; his eyes examine them.

PASTOR: The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence his soul hates.

ALL: For the LORD is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face.

LEADER: We give thanks to you, Lord, for you are good.

LEADER: Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.

PEOPLE: I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

LEADER: Hear the promises of God to those who truly repent of their sins and trust in Christ: If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness. Let us put our hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. Now, lift up your hearts!

PEOPLE: We lift them up to the LORD!

So long have I wandered in darkness; in the shadows of grief and despair.
But the Lord in His mercy reminds me of the hope that He’s bringing to bear.

CONFESSION OF FAITH

LEADER: What is God?

PEOPLE: God is a Spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable, in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth.

LEADER: Are there more Gods than one?

PEOPLE: There is but one only, the living and true God.

LEADER: How many persons are there in the Godhead?

PEOPLE: There are three persons in the Godhead: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory.
