CALL TO WORSHIP

Psalm 132

PASTOR: The LORD swore an oath to David, a sure oath that he will not revoke: “One of your own descendants I will place on your throne—if your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne for ever and ever.”

PEOPLE: For the LORD has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling: “This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it— I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor will I satisfy with food. I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will ever sing for joy.

ALL: Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool— arise, O LORD, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might. May your priests be clothed with righteousness; may your saints sing for joy.

PASTOR: The Lord be with you!

PEOPLE: And also with you!

PRAISING THE LORD

Hymn 347 (v.1-2,4-5)
  The Church’s One Foundation

CONFESSING OUR SINS PUBLICLY

ALL: Almighty God, who is rich in mercy to all those who call upon You; hear us as we come to You humbly confessing our sins and transgressions, and imploring Your mercy and forgiveness. We have broken Your holy laws by our deeds and by our words, and by the sinful affections of our hearts. We confess before You our disobedience and ingratitude, our pride and willfulness; and all our failures and shortcomings toward You and toward our fellow men.

Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; and of Your great goodness grant that we may hereafter serve and please You in newness of life; through the merit and mediation of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

CONFESSING OUR SINS PRIVATELY

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Psalm 51:16–17

LEADER: Hear the promises of God to those who truly repent of their sins and trust in Christ: The Lord does not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; He does not take pleasure in burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. Now, lift up your hearts!

PEOPLE: We lift them up to the Lord!

RESPONDING IN SONG

Ensemble & Congregation
  Antiphonal Praise (We Worship You)

We worship You, (echo: we worship You); Almighty God, (Almighty God),
In You alone, (in You alone); Is our delight, (is our delight).

We worship You, (we worship You); O Holy God, (O Holy God),
And lift our voice, (and lift our voice); To sing your praise, (to sing your praise).

Together:
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

You Have Been Good

O Lord, You have been good, You have been faithful to all generations.
O Lord, Your steadfast love and tender mercy have been our salvation.

For by Your hand we have been fed, and by Your Spirit we have been led.
O Lord, You have been good, You have been faithful to all generations.

For by Your hand we have been fed, and by Your Spirit we have been led.
O Lord, Almighty God, Father unchanging, upright and holy.

O Lord, You have been good, You have been faithful, You have been good.

THANKING GOD FOR HIS PRESENCE

LEADER: We give thanks to you, Lord, for you are good.
ALL: Your love endures forever. Amen.

CONFESSING OUR FAITH

Heidelberg Catechism 54–55

LEADER: What do you believe concerning the holy catholic Christian church?

PEOPLE: I believe that the Son of God, out of the whole human race, from the beginning of the world to its end, gathers, defends, and preserves for Himself, by His Spirit and Word, in the unity of the true faith, a church chosen to everlasting life. And I believe that I am and forever shall remain a living member of it.

LEADER: What do you understand by the communion of saints?

PEOPLE: First, that believers, all and everyone, as members of Christ have communion with Him and share in all His treasures and gifts. Second, that everyone is duty-bound to use his gifts readily and cheerfully for the benefit and well-being of the other members.

PRAYING TOGETHER FOR GOD'S PEOPLE

WORSHIPPING BY GIVING

(Sign, pass & return Friendship Pad)

• Choral Offertory - Let All The People Sing Praise (Larson)

I was glad when they said unto me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord!”

Praise the Lord in His sanctuary! Praise the Lord in the firmament!
Let the earth resound in joyous praise!
Let all the people sing praise unto the Lord!

Praise the Lord, all you people, let His name be exalted
From the dawn to the setting of the sun.
Praise the Lord, all you people, worship the Lord, all you people,
Glory to God who sits enthroned on high!

I have seen You in the sanctuary. I’ve beheld Your power and Your glory.
Because Your love is better than life; Your love, is better than life.
With my lips I will praise and glorify You as long as I live,
And I will lift my hands in praise to You!

PRAISING OUR GOD

Gloria Patri (Hymn 734)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
World without end. Amen, amen.

DEDICATING OUR LIVES & GIFTS

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

PREPARING TO HEAR GOD'S WORD

Ensemble & Congregation
  As the Deer

As the deer panteth for the water, so my soul longeth after Thee.
You alone are my heart’s desire, and I long to worship Thee.

You alone are my strength, my shield; to You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart’s desire, and I long to worship Thee.

You’re my friend and You are my brother, even though You are a King.
I love You more than any other, so much more than anything.

Repeat Chorus

I want You more than gold or silver, only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver and the apple of my eye.

Repeat Chorus
