Create In Me A Clean Heart (Mueller)

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Then will I teach transgressors thy ways, and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

CALL TO WORSHIP

from Psalm 145

LEADER: I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever.

PEOPLE: Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever.

LEADER: All you have made will praise you, O LORD; your saints will extol you.

PEOPLE: They will tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might, so that all men may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.

ALL: Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made.

PASTOR: The Lord be with you!

PEOPLE: And also with you!

PRAISING THE LORD

Hymn 164
O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing

CONFESSING OUR SINS PUBLICLY

ALL: Almighty God, who is rich in mercy to all those who call upon You; hear us as we come to You humbly confessing our sins and transgressions, and imploring Your mercy and forgiveness. We have broken Your holy laws by our deeds and by our words, and by the sinful affections of our hearts. We confess before You our disobedience and ingratitude, our pride and willfulness; and all our failures and shortcomings toward You and toward our fellow men.

Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; and of Your great goodness grant that we may hereafter serve and please You in newness of life; through the merit and mediation of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

CONFESSING OUR SINS PRIVATELY

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

John 3:16-17

LEADER: Hear the promises of God to those who truly repent of their sins and trust in Christ: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Now, lift up your hearts!

PEOPLE: We lift them up to the Lord!

RESPONDING IN SONG

Hymn 181 (v.1-4)
We Come, O Christ, to You

THANKING GOD FOR HIS PRESENCE

LEADER: We give thanks to you, Lord, for you are good.
ALL: Your love endures forever. Amen.

CONFESSING OUR FAITH

Heidelberg Catechism 31–32

LEADER: Why is He called Christ, that is, Anointed?

PEOPLE: Because He has been ordained by God the Father, and anointed with the Holy Spirit, to be our chief Prophet and Teacher, who has fully revealed to us the secret counsel and will of God concerning our redemption; our only High Priest, who by the one sacrifice of His body has redeemed us, and who continually intercedes for us before the Father; and our eternal King, who governs us by His Word and Spirit, and who defends and preserves us in the redemption obtained for us.

LEADER: Why are you called a Christian?

PEOPLE: Because I am a member of Christ by faith and thus share in His anointing, so that I may as prophet confess His Name, as priest present myself a living sacrifice of thankfulness to Him, and as king fight with a free and good conscience against sin and the devil in this life, and hereafter reign with Him eternally over all creatures.

Choral Offertory - Sing To His Name (Marshall)

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord!
Praise the name of the Lord, give praise, O servants of the Lord,
You that stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God!

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord!
Praise the name of the Lord, give praise, O servants of the Lord,
Give praise, for the Lord our God is good!

Sing to his name, sing, sing, O sing, for he is gracious.
Thy name, O Lord, endures always, thy renown, O Lord, throughout all time.

O house of Israel, bless the Lord! O house of Aaron, bless the Lord!
O house of Levi, bless the Lord! You that fear the Lord, bless the Lord!

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord!
Praise the name of the Lord, give praise, O servants of the Lord,
Give praise, O praise the Lord!

PRAISING OUR GOD

Doxology (Hymn 733)

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below.
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

DEDICATING OUR LIVES & GIFTS

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

PREPARING TO HEAR GOD'S WORD

Ensemble & Congregation
  The Gospel is True

We have a hope that is living and love that never will end.
We have a God who’s forgiven us while we were yet in sin.

We have a grace that’s amazing; a free gift to know Him by faith,
To live for His praise and long for the day, when we see Him face to face.

Thank You, Jesus. Oh, how we worship You.
Thank You, Jesus. Hallelujah, the gospel is true.

We have been crucified with Him, buried and risen to life.
Now justified, soon glorified, we shall be made like Christ.

Repeat Chorus

We Are the Body of Christ

One heart, one spirit, one voice to praise You. We are the body of Christ.
One goal, one vision to see You exalted. We are the body of Christ.

And to this, we give our lives to see You glorified.
One heart, one spirit, one voice to praise You. We are the body of Christ.

CHORAL BENEDICTION

Now To Him Who Is Able

Now to Him who is able to keep you, able to keep you from stumbling.
Who makes you stand in the presence of glory, blameless with great joy.
Be glory majesty, honor and pow’r before all time, both now and forevermore.
Now to Him who’s exceedingly able, able beyond all we ask or think,
To Him be glory in light of the power working within our hearts.
Be glory majesty, honor and pow’r before all time, both now and forevermore.

LEADER: Go in peace.
ALL: The Lord is King forever! Hallelujah! Amen.
