  Create In Me A Clean Heart (Mueller)

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Then will I teach transgressors thy ways, and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Revelation 15:3-4

PASTOR: Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty.

PEOPLE: Just and true are your ways, King of the ages.

PASTOR: Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name?

PEOPLE: For you alone are holy.

ALL: All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.

PASTOR: The Lord be with you!

PEOPLE: And also with you!

PRAISING THE LORD

Hymn 172
  Let Us Love And Sing And Wonder

CONFESSING OUR SINS PUBLICLY

Lord Jesus, I sin. Deliver me from attachment to things unclean, from wrong associations, from the sway of evil passions, from the sugar of sin, as well as its bitterness, that with deep contrition, earnest heart searching, I may come to You, cast myself on You, trust in You, cry to You, and be delivered by You.

O God, the Eternal, help me to know that all things are shadows, but You are substance, all things are quicksand, but You are solid ground, all things are shifting, but You are an anchor, all things are ignorance, but You are wisdom. Give me grace to copy Your words, acts, and spirit, to be transformed into Your likeness, to be consecrated wholly to You, and to live entirely to Your glory. Amen.

CONFESSING OUR SINS PRIVATELY

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Romans 6:22–23

LEADER: Hear the promises of God to those who truly repent of their sins and trust in Christ: Now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Now, lift up your hearts!

PEOPLE: We lift them up to the Lord!

CONFESSING OUR FAITH

Westminster Shorter Catechism 4–6

LEADER: What is God?

PEOPLE: God is a Spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable, in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth.

LEADER: Are there more Gods than one?

PEOPLE: There is but one only, the living and true God.

LEADER: How many persons are there in the Godhead?

PEOPLE: There are three persons in the Godhead: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory.

• Choral Offertory
Be Thou My Vision(Rutter)

Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart,
be all else but naught to me, save that thou art;
Be thou my best thought in the day and the might,
both waking and sleeping, thy presence my light.

Be thou my wisdom, be thou my true word,
be thou ever with me, and I with thee, Lord;
Be thou my great Father, and I thy true son;
be thou in me dwelling, and I with thee one.

Be thou my breastplate, my sword for the fight;
be thou my whole armor, be thou my true might;
Be thou my soul’s shelter, be thou my strong tower:
O raise thou me heavenward, great Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise:
be thou mine inheritance now and always;
Be thou and thou only the first in my heart:
O sovereign of heaven, my treasure thou art.

High King of heaven, thou heaven’s bright Sun,
O grant me its joys after victory is won;
Great Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
still be thou my vision, O Ruler of all.

PRAISING OUR GOD

Doxology (Hymn 731)

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below.
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

DEDICATING OUR LIVES & GIFTS

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

PREPARING TO HEAR GOD'S WORD

Ensemble & Congregation
  Greatly Rejoice

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who has caused us to be born again to a living hope,
Who has caused us to be born again to a living hope,
A hope that won’t fade away, reserved in heaven for us,
Protected by the power of God through faith, we are saved, we are saved!

We greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible,
Greatly rejoice with glorious praise, greatly rejoice in a life incorruptible,
Love beyond measure, and infinite grace,
Love beyond measure, and infinite grace.

Through the trials of life you’re working to prove our faith as gold,
In Your love we’re persevering for one day soon we know
You’ll explode through the clouds as Your shout cracks the sky,
Dead in Christ will arise as You call home Your bride,
And though we’ve not seen Your face, this greatest glory awaits,
‘Till then by the power of God through faith we are saved, we are saved!

Repeat Chorus

O Lord, You’re Beautiful

O Lord, You’re beautiful, your face is all I seek.
And when Your eyes are on this child, Your grace abounds to me.

O Lord, please light the fire that once burned bright and clear,
Replace the lamp of my first love that burns with holy fear!

WORDS OF INTRODUCTION & INSTITUTION

PRAYER OF CONSECRATION

PASTOR: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

PEOPLE: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

PASTOR: O God of mercy and might, in your wisdom, you made all things and sustain them by your power. You have called forth men and women in every age to be your servants and speak your word. When we rebelled against your call and turned from your ways, in your love you called us back to you. You delivered us from captivity, and made covenant to be our sovereign God. You sent prophets to call us to justice and compassion. Therefore, we praise you, joining our voices with the choirs of heaven and with all the faithful of every time and place, who forever sing to the glory of your name:

PEOPLE: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.

PASTOR: Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

PEOPLE: Hosanna in the highest.

PASTOR: We give you thanks that the body of the Lord Jesus was broken that we might be healed and that his blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins.

ALL: We do this, Lord, in remembrance of you. Amen.

THE LORD’S SUPPER

(Please hold the elements until everyone is served.)

RESPONDING IN SONG

Hymn 38

Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise

RECEIVING GOD'S BLESSING

Romans 11:33-36

PASTOR: Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor? Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him? For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever!

ALL: The Lord is King forever! Hallelujah! Amen.
