  Lord, For Thy Tender Mercies’ Sake

Lord, for Thy tender mercies’ sake, lay not our sins to our charge
But forgive that is past and give us grace to amend our sinful lives
To decline from sin and incline to virtue
That we may walk with a perfect heart before Thee now and ever more.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Psalm 19:1–2, 14

LEADER: The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

PEOPLE: Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.

ALL: May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

LEADER: The Lord be with you!

PEOPLE: And also with you!

PRAISING THE LORD

Hymn 122
  God All Nature Sings Thy Glory

CONFESSING OUR SINS PUBLICLY

Lord God! Eternal and Almighty Father, we acknowledge and confess before Your holy Majesty that we are poor sinners, conceived and born in guilt and in corruption, prone to do evil, unable of ourselves to do any good, who, by reason of our depravity, transgress without end Your holy commandments. Therefore, we have drawn upon ourselves, by Your just sentence, condemnation and death.

But, Oh Lord! with heartfelt sorrow, we repent and deplore our offenses. We condemn ourselves and our evil ways, with true penitence, beseeching that Your grace may relieve our distress. Amen.

CONFESSING OUR SINS PRIVATELY

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Romans 8:1–2

LEADER: Hear the promises of God to those who truly repent of their sins and trust in Christ: Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set us free from the law of sin and death. Now, lift up your hearts!

PEOPLE: We lift them up to the Lord!

RESPONDING IN SONG

Hymn 16 (v.1-4,6)
  Come, Let Us Sing Unto the Lord

THANKING GOD FOR HIS PRESENCE

LEADER: We give thanks to you, Lord, for you are good.
ALL: Your love endures forever. Amen.

CONFESSING OUR FAITH

Heidelberg Catechism, 51–52

LEADER: How does the glory of Christ, our Head, benefit us?

PEOPLE: First, by His Holy Spirit He pours out heavenly gifts upon us, His members. Second, by His power He defends and preserves us against all enemies.

LEADER: What comfort is it to you that Christ will come to judge the living and the dead?

PEOPLE: In all my sorrow and persecution I lift up my head and eagerly await as judge from heaven the very same person who before has submitted Himself to the judgment of God for my sake, and has removed all the curse from me. He will cast all His and my enemies into everlasting condemnation, but He will take me and all His chosen ones to Himself into heavenly joy and glory.

CHORAL ANTHEM

Sing praise to God, who reigns above, the God of all creation
The God of pow’r, the God of love, the God of our salvation;
With healing balm, my soul is filled, and ev’ry faithless murmur stilled:
To God all praise and glory!

What God’s almighty pow’r hath made, God’s gracious mercy keepeth;
By morning glow or evening shade, God’s watchful eye ne’er sleepeth.
The Lord is never far away, but through all grief distressing,
An ever present help and stay, our peace and joy and blessing.

Sing praise to God, who reigns above, the God of all creation
The God of pow’r, the God of love, the God of our salvation;
With healing balm, my soul is filled, and ev’ry faithless murmur stilled:
To God all praise and glory!

To God all praise and glory!

Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise him, all creatures here below, Alleluia, Alleluia
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host: Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.

DEDICATING OUR LIVES & GIFTS

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

PREPARING TO HEAR GOD'S WORD

Ensemble & Congregation
  I Will Offer Up My Life

I will offer up my life in spirit and truth,
pouring out the oil of love as my worship to you.
In surrender I must give my ev'ry part,
Lord, receive the sacrifice of a broken heart.

Jesus, what can I give, what can I bring
to so faithful a friend, to so loving a King?
Savior, what can be said, what can be sung
as a praise of your name for the things you have done?
Oh, my words could not tell, not even in part
of the debt of love that is owed
by this thankful heart.

You deserve my ev'ry breath, for you've paid the great cost,
giving up your life to death, even death on a cross.
You took all my shame away, there defeated my sin,
opened up the gates of heav'n and have beckoned me in.

Repeat Chorus

Lord, for Your Glory

Lord, for Your glory we sing Your praises. We magnify Your holy name.
All for Your glory, Lord, we bring blessing. We seek to honor You all of our days.

We lift our hands, we lift our praise to You.
We worship all you are in spirit and truth. We give our hearts;
We live our lives to You. We offer all we are for the glory of You.

Almighty Father, we are Your children. You have been faithful to Your own.
Lord, for Your glory we have been chosen. We lay down all we have here at Your throne.

We lift our hands, we lift our praise to You.
We worship all you are in spirit and truth. We give our hearts;
We live our lives to You. We offer all we are;
We offer all we have; we offer all our lives for the glory of You.

CHORAL BENEDICTION

Ensemble

Now To Him Who Is Able

Now to Him who is able to keep you, able to keep you from stumbling.
Who makes you stand in the presence of glory, blameless with great joy.
Be glory majesty, honor and pow’r before all time, both now and forevermore.
Now to Him who’s exceedingly able, able beyond all we ask or think,
To Him be glory in light of the power working within our hearts.
Be glory majesty, honor and pow’r before all time, both now and forevermore.

LEADER: Go in peace.

ALL: The Lord is King forever! Hallelujah! Amen.
