CALL TO WORSHIP

PASTOR: Praise the LORD. Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the saints.

PEOPLE: Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King.

PASTOR: Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp.

ALL: For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation.

CONFESSING OUR SINS PUBLICLY

Merciful God, in your gracious presence we confess our sin. Although Christ is among us as our peace, we are a people divided against ourselves as we cling to the values of a broken world. We pursue profit and pleasures that we should not and harbor jealousy against our neighbors. We abuse your good gifts of freedom, intellect and reason, and have turned them into bonds of oppression.

Lord, have mercy upon us; heal and forgive us. Set us free to serve you in the world as agents of your reconciling love in Jesus Christ. Amen.

CONFESSING OUR SINS PRIVATELY

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

LEADER: Hear the promises of God to those who truly repent of their sins and trust in Christ: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Now, lift up your hearts!

PEOPLE: We lift them up to the Lord!

CONFESSING OUR FAITH

LEADER: How are you righteous before God?

PEOPLE: Only by true faith in Jesus Christ. Although my conscience accuses me that I have grievously sinned against all God's commandments, have never kept any of them, and am still inclined to all evil, yet God, without any merit of my own, out of mere grace, imputes to me the perfect satisfaction, righteousness, and holiness of Christ. He grants these to me as if I had never had nor committed any sin, and as if I myself had accomplished all the obedience which Christ has rendered for me, if only I accept this gift with a believing heart.

PRAYER OF CONSECRATION

PASTOR: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

PEOPLE: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

PASTOR: O God of mercy and might, in your wisdom, you made all things and sustain them by your power. You have called forth men and women in every age to be your servants and speak your word. When we rebelled against your call and turned from your ways, in your love you called us back to you. You delivered us from captivity, and made covenant to be our sovereign God. You sent prophets to call us to justice and compassion. Therefore, we praise you, joining our voices with the choirs of heaven and with all the faithful of every time and place, who forever sing to the glory of your name:

PEOPLE: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.

PASTOR: Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
