PASTOR:How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD Almighty!

PEOPLE: My soul yearns, even faints for the courts of the LORD;

PASTOR: My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

PEOPLE: Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere.

ALL: I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

PASTOR: The Lord be with you!

CALL TO CONFESSION

LEADER: Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.

PEOPLE: I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity.

LEADER: I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD”

PEOPLE: And you forgave the guilt of my sin.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

LEADER: Hear the promises of God to those who truly repent of their sins and trust in Christ: If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness. Let us put our hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. Now, lift up your hearts!

PEOPLE: We lift them up to the Lord!

LEADER: Why is the Son of God called Jesus, that is, Saviour?

PEOPLE: Because He saves us from all our sins, and because salvation is not to be sought or found in anyone else.

LEADER: Why is He called Christ, that is, Anointed?

PEOPLE: Because He has been ordained by God the Father, and anointed with the Holy Spirit, to be our chief Prophet and Teacher, who has fully revealed to us the secret counsel and will of God concerning our redemption; our only High Priest, who by the one sacrifice His body has redeemed us, and who continually intercedes for us before the Father; and our eternal King, who governs us by His Word and Spirit, and who defends and preserves us in the redemption obtained for us.
