Duet
  I Will Arise And Go To Jesus

I will arise and go to Jesus, he will embrace me with his arms
In the arms of my dear Savior, O there are ten thousand charms
Come thou fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing thy grace
Streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise.

PASTOR: Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth.

ALL: Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day.

PRAISING THE LORD

Ensemble & Congregation
  Firm Foundation

Jesus, You’re my firm foundation, I know I can stand secure;
Jesus, you’re my firm foundation, I put my hope in Your Holy Word,
I put my hope in Your Holy Word.

Men: I have a living hope, (Ladies: I have a living hope,)
Men: I have a future; (Ladies: I have a future;)
Men: God has a plan for me, (Ladies: God has a plan for me,)
All: Of this I’m sure, of this I’m sure.

Repeat Chorus

Men: Your Word is faithful, (Ladies: Your Word is faithful,)
Men: Mighty with power; (Ladies: Mighty with power;)
Men: God will deliver me, (Ladies: God will deliver me,)
All: Of this I’m sure, of this I’m sure.

Repeat Chorus

We Sing Your Mercies

We sing your mercies, we sing your endless praises,
We sing your everlasting love.
We sing your mercies, we sing your endless praises,
Sovereign One who died, Sovereign One who died for us.

Should He who made the stars be hung upon a tree?
And should the hands that healed be driven through for me?
Should He who gave us bread be made to swallow gall,
Should He who gave us breath and life be slaughtered for us all?

Repeat Chorus

Should He who is the light be cast into the dark?
And should the Lord of love be pierced through His own heart?
Should He who called us friends be deserted by us all,
Should He who lived a sinless life be punished for our fall?

Repeat Chorus

CALLING OURSELVES TO CONFESSION

Psalm 51:4, 17

LEADER: Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight.

PEOPLE: The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

CONFESSING OUR SINS PRIVATELY

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Psalm 32:5

LEADER: Hear the promises of God to those who truly repent of their sins and trust in Christ: I acknowledged my sins to You, and my iniquity I did not hide; I said, “I will confess my transgression to the Lord”; and You forgave the guilt of my sin. Now, lift up your hearts!

PEOPLE: We lift them up to the Lord!

RESPONDING IN SONG

Hymn 247
  O Sacred Head, Now Wounded

THANKING GOD FOR HIS PRESENCE

PASTOR: We give thanks to you, Lord, for you are good.
ALL: Your love endures forever. Amen.

CONFESSING OUR FAITH

The Nicene Creed

LEADER: People of God, what do we believe?

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God,
begotten of his Father before all worlds.
God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God,
begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father;
by whom all things were made;
who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven,
and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary,
and was made man;
and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate;
He suffered and was buried;
and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures,
and ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father;
and he shall come again, with glory, to judge both the living and the dead;
whose kingdom shall have no end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son;
who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified;
who spoke by the prophets;
and we believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church;
we acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins;
and we look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below,
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host: Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

DEDICATING OUR LIVES & GIFTS

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

PREPARING TO HEAR GOD'S WORD

Ensemble & Congregation
  How Deep the Father’s Love for Us

How deep the Father’s love for us, how vast beyond all measure,
That He should give His only Son to make a wretch His treasure!
How great the pain of searing loss; the Father turns His face away,
As wounds which mar the Chosen One bring many sons to glory.

Behold the Man upon the cross, my sin upon His shoulders;
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice call out among the scoffers.
It was my sin that held Him there until it was accomplished;
His dying breath has brought me life— I know that it is finished.

I will not boast in anything, no gifts, no power, no wisdom;
But I will boast in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection.
Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer.
But this I know with all my heart: His wounds have paid my ransom.

APPLYING GOD'S WORD

You Be Last - Philippians 2:1-4
(Text and Outline will be included on Sunday)

RESPONDING IN SONG

Hymn 246

Man of Sorrows! What a Name

RECEIVING GOD'S BLESSING

Phil. 2:1-3; 4:20, 23

PASTOR: If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in the spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever, and the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.

ALL: The Lord is King forever! Hallelujah! Amen.
