CALL TO WORSHIP

PASTOR: I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever.

PEOPLE: All you have made will praise you, O LORD; your saints will extol you. They will tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might, so that all men may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.

ALL: Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made.

CONFESSING OUR SINS PUBLICLY

Almighty God, father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, Judge of all men; we acknowledge our manifold sins and wickedness, which we most grievously have committed, pro-voking most justly Your wrath and indignation against us. Sins of lip, life and walk, of impurity in thought, word and deed; good Lord, hear; and hearing, forgive. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

PASTOR: Hear the promises of God to those who truly repent of their sins and trust in Christ: For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit. Now, lift up your hearts!

CONFESSING OUR FAITH

LEADER: How does the Lord's Supper signify and seal to you that you share in Christ's one sacrifice on the cross and in all His gifts?

PEOPLE: In this way: Christ has commanded me and all believers to eat of this broken bread and drink of this cup in remembrance of Him. With this command He gave these promises: First, as surely as I see with my eyes the bread of the Lord broken for me and the cup given to me, so surely was His body offered for me and His blood poured out for me on the cross. Second, as surely as I receive from the hand of the minister and taste with my mouth the bread and the cup of the Lord as sure signs of Christ's body and blood, so surely does He Himself nourish and refresh my soul to everlasting life with His crucified body and shed blood.

LEADER: What does it mean to eat the crucified body of Christ and to drink His shed blood?

PEOPLE: First, to accept with a believing heart all the suffering and the death of Christ, and so receive forgiveness of sins and life eternal. Second, to be united more and more to His sacred body through the Holy Spirit, who lives both in Christ and in us. Therefore, although Christ is in heaven and we are on earth, yet we are flesh of His flesh and bone of His bones, and we for-ever live and are governed by one Spirit, as the members of our body are by one soul.

GIVING THANKS

PASTOR: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

PEOPLE: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

PASTOR: O God of mercy and might, in your wisdom, you made all things and sustain them by your power. You have called forth men and women in every age to be your servants and speak your word. When we rebelled against your call and turned from your ways, in your love you called us back to you. You delivered us from captivity, and made covenant to be our sovereign God. You sent prophets to call us to justice and compassion. Therefore, we praise you, joining our voices with the choirs of heaven and with all the faithful of every time and place, who forever sing to the glory of your name:

PEOPLE: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.

PASTOR: Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
