THE LORD'S DAY

April 7, 2002 - 10:30 A.M.

Worship Theme: The Triune God

PRELUDE

Miss Randa Senzig

ACTIVITIES & CONCERNS OF THE CHURCH

PREPARING IN STILLNESS

WELCOMING THE ASSEMBLY

PASTOR: The Lord be with you!
PEOPLE: And also with you!

CONFESSING OUR SINS PUBLICLY

ALL: Eternal God, in whom we live and move and have our being, whose face is hidden from us by our sins, and whose mercy we forget in the blindness of our hearts: Cleanse us from all our of-fenses, and deliver us from proud thoughts and vain desires, that with reverent and humble hearts we may draw near to you, confessing our faults, confiding in your grace, and finding in you our refuge and strength; through Jesus Christ your Son. Amen.

CONFESSING OUR SINS PRIVATELY

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

1 Timothy 1:15-16

PASTOR: Hear the promises of God to those who truly repent of their sins and trust in Christ: Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display His unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on Him and receive eternal life. Now, lift up your hearts!

PEOPLE: We lift them up to the Lord!

DRAWING NEAR TO WORSHIP

Ensemble & Congregation

Lord, I Lift Your Name on High

Lord, I lift Your name on high; Lord, I love to sing Your praises.
I’m so glad You’re in my life; I’m so glad You came to save us.

You came from heaven to earth to show the way,
From the earth to the cross: my debt to pay.
From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky;
Lord, I lift your name on high!

Step By Step

O God, You are my God, and I will ever praise You.
O God, You are my God, and I will ever praise You.

I will seek You in the morning, and I will learn to walk in Your ways.
And step by step You’ll lead me, and I will follow You all of my days.

CALL TO WORSHIP

from Psalm 100

PASTOR: Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

PEOPLE: Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

PASTOR: Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

ALL: For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

RESPONDING IN SONG

All People That on Earth Do Dwell
Hymn 1

THANKING GOD FOR HIS PRESENCE

PASTOR: We give thanks to you, Lord, for you are good.
ALL: Your love endures forever. Amen.

CONFESSING OUR FAITH

Heidelberg Catechism, 54-56

PASTOR: What do you believe concerning the holy catholic Christian church?

PEOPLE: I believe that the Son of God, out of the whole human race, from the beginning of the world to its end, gathers, defends, and preserves for Himself, by His Spirit and Word, in the unity of the true faith, a church chosen to everlasting life. And I believe that I am and forever shall remain a living member of it.

PASTOR: What do you understand by the communion of saints?

PEOPLE: First, that believers, all and everyone, as members of Christ have communion with Him and share in all His treasures and gifts. Second, that everyone is duty-bound to use his gifts readily and cheerfully for the benefit and well-being of the other members.

PASTOR: What do you believe concerning the forgiveness of sins?

PEOPLE: I believe that God, because of Christ’s satisfaction, will no more remember my sins, nor my sinful nature, against which I have to struggle all my life, but He will graciously grant me the righteousness of Christ, that I may never come into condemnation.

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. PREPARING TO HEAR GOD'S WORD

Ensemble & Congregation

Here in This Place

Lay your burden down, ev’ry care you carry,
And come to the table of grace, for there is mercy.
We come just as we are, though we’re all unworthy
To enter Your presence, O Lord, for You are holy.

We lift our hearts, we lift our hands, we fall on our knees and pray,
To the King of kings, for the love You bring is here in this place.
We raise our voices, raise our song, we offer You our praise.
You’re the King of kings and the joy You bring is here,
You are here in this place.

Fill our lives with praise; show us Your forgiveness,
And give us the faith to believe that You’ve redeemed us.
You are Lord of all and we give You glory.
All honor and power and praise, for You are worthy.

Come to the Table of the Lord

GIVING THANKS

PASTOR: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

PEOPLE: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

PASTOR: O God of mercy and might, in your wisdom, you made all things and sustain them by your power. You have called forth men and women in every age to be your servants and speak your word. When we rebelled against your call and turned from your ways, in your love you called us back to you. You delivered us from captivity, and made covenant to be our sovereign God. You sent prophets to call us to justice and compassion. Therefore, we praise you, joining our voices with the choirs of heaven and with all the faithful of every time and place, who forever sing to the glory of your name:

PEOPLE: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.

PASTOR: Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

PEOPLE: Hosanna in the highest.

PASTOR: We give you thanks that the body of the Lord Jesus was broken that we might be healed and that his blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins.

ALL: We do this, Lord, in remembrance of you. Amen.
