ACTIVITIES & CONCERNS OF THE CHURCH

PREPARING IN STILLNESS

WELCOMING THE ASSEMBLY

PASTOR: The Lord be with you!
PEOPLE: And also with you!

CONFESSING OUR SINS

ALL: O living God, I bless You that I see the worst of my heart as well as the best of it, that I can sorrow for those sins that carry me from You. Often my sin is to look on my faults and be discouraged, or to look on my good and be puffed up. Every event and circumstance of my life will be dealt with—the sins of my youth, my secret sins, the sins of abusing You, of disobeying Your Word, and the sins of violating my conscience. All will be judged and after judgment there will be peace and rest, life and service, employment and enjoyment, for Your children. O God, keep me in this faith, and ever-looking for Christ’s return. Amen.

CONFESSING OUR SINS PRIVATELY

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Psalm 32:5

PASTOR: Hear the promises of God to those who truly repent of their sins and trust in Christ: I acknowledged my sins to You, and my iniquity I did not hide; I said, “I will confess my transgression to the Lord”; and You forgave the guilt of my sin. Now, lift up your hearts!

PEOPLE: We lift them up to the Lord!

DRAWING NEAR TO WORSHIP

Ensemble & Congregation

We Bow Down

You are Lord of creation and Lord of my life, Lord of the land and the sea.
You were Lord of the heavens before there was time,
And Lord of all lords You will be!

We bow down and we worship You, Lord. (repeat 2 times)
Lord of all lords You will be!

You are King of creation and King of my life, King of the land and the sea.
You were King of the heavens before there was time,
And King of all kings You will be!

We bow down and we crown You the King. (repeat 2 times)
King of all kings You will be!

CALL TO WORSHIP

from Psalm 27

PASTOR: The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?

PEOPLE: When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident.

ALL: One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.

RESPONDING IN SONG

Hymn 645

Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee

THANKING GOD FOR HIS PRESENCE

LEADER: We give thanks to you, Lord, for you are good.
ALL: Your love endures forever. Amen.

CONFESSING OUR FAITH

Heidelberg Catechism, 40-43

LEADER: Why was it necessary for Christ to humble Himself even unto death?

PEOPLE: Because of the justice and truth of God satisfaction for our sins could be made in no other way than by the death of the Son of God.

LEADER: Why was he buried?

PEOPLE: His burial testified that He had really died.

LEADER: Since Christ has died for us, why do we still have to die?

PEOPLE: Our death is not a payment for our sins, but it puts an end to sin and is an entrance into eternal life.

LEADER: What further benefit do we receive from Christ’s sacrifice and death on the cross?

PEOPLE: Through Christ’s death our old nature is crucified, put to death, and buried with Him, so that the evil desires of the flesh may no longer reign in us, but that we may offer ourselves to Him as a sacrifice of thankfulness.

PRAYING TOGETHER FOR GOD'S PEOPLE

Pastor Dave Clelland

Choral Anthem

Lord, for Thy Tender Mercies’ Sake Choir

Lord, for thy tender mercies’ sake, lay not our sins to our charge,
But forgive that is past, and give us grace to amend our sinful lives,
To decline from sin, and incline to virtue,
That we may walk with a perfect heart before thee, now and evermore.

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. You Have Been Good

O Lord, You have been good, You have been faithful to all generations.
O Lord, Your steadfast love and tender mercy have been our salvation.

For by Your hand we have been fed, and by Your Spirit we have been led.
O Lord, You have been good, You have been faithful to all generations

For by Your hand we have been fed, and by Your Spirit we have been led.
O Lord, Almighty God, Father unchanging, upright and holy.

O Lord, You have been good, You have been faithful, You have been good.

O Lord, You're Beautiful

O Lord, You’re beautiful, your face is all I seek.
And when Your eyes are on this child, Your grace abounds to me.

O Lord, please light the fire that once burned bright and clear,
Replace the lamp of my first love that burns with holy fear!
