PRELUDE

ACTIVITIES & CONCERNS OF THE CHURCH

PREPARING IN STILLNESS

WELCOMING THE ASSEMBLY

PASTOR: The Lord be with you!
PEOPLE: And also with you!

CONFESSING OUR SINS

ALL: Almighty God, father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, Judge of all men; we acknowledge our manifold sins and wickedness, which we most grievously have committed, provoking most justly Your wrath and indignation against us. Sins of lip, life and walk, of hard-heartedness, unbelief, presumption, pride, of bringing dishonor upon Your great name, of deception, injustice, untruthfulness in dealing with others, of impurity in thought, word and deed, sins in private and in the family, in time misspent, in yielding to Satan’s wiles, in opening my heart to his temptations, in quenching the Holy Spirit; good Lord, hear; and hearing, forgive. Amen.

CONFESSING OUR SINS PRIVATELY

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Titus 3:5-7

PASTOR: Hear the promises of God to those who truly repent of their sins and trust in Christ: For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit. Now, lift up your hearts!

PEOPLE: We lift them up to the Lord!

DRAWING NEAR TO WORSHIP

Hymn 30

Our God, Our Help in Ages Past (stanzas 1, 2, 4, 6, 7 with ‘Amen’)

CALL TO WORSHIP

Psalm 124:8; 95:1-2

PASTOR: Our help is in the name of the Lord,

PEOPLE: Who made heaven and earth.

PASTOR: Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord and shout with joy to the rock of our salvation!

ALL: Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.

RESPONDING IN SONG

Hymn 2

O Worship the King (stanzas 1, 2, 4, 5)

THANKING GOD FOR HIS PRESENCE

PASTOR: We give thanks to you, Lord, for you are good.
ALL: Your love endures forever. Amen.

CONFESSING OUR FAITH

Heidelberg Catechism, 37-39

PASTOR: What do you confess when you say that Christ suffered?

PEOPLE: During all the time He lived on earth, but especially at the end, Christ bore in body and soul the wrath of God against the sin of the whole human race. Thus, by His suffering, as the only atoning sacrifice, He has redeemed our body and soul from everlasting damnation, and obtained for us the grace of God, righteousness, and eternal life.

PASTOR: Why did He suffer under Pontius Pilate as judge?

PEOPLE: Though innocent, Christ was condemned by an earthly judge, and so He freed us from the severe judgment of God that was to fall on us.

PASTOR: Does it have a special meaning that Christ was crucified and did not die in a different way?

PEOPLE: Yes. Thereby I am assured that He took upon Himself the curse which lay on me, for a crucified one was cursed by God.

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. PREPARING TO HEAR GOD'S WORD

Ensemble & Congregation

Wonderful, Merciful Savior

Wonderful, merciful Savior, precious Redeemer and Friend.
Who would have thought that a Lamb could rescue the souls of men.
Oh, You rescue the souls of men.

You are the One that we praise, You are the One we adore,
You give the healing and grace our hearts always hunger for,
Oh, our hearts always hunger for.

Counselor, Comforter, Keeper, Spirit we long to embrace.
You offer hope when our hearts have hopelessly lost the way.
Oh, we hopelessly lost the way.

Repeat Chorus

Almighty, infinite Father, faithfully loving Your own.
Here in our weakness You find us falling before Your throne.
Oh, we’re falling before Your throne.

Repeat Chorus

RECEIVING GOD'S BLESSING

Titus 3:4-7, 15e

PASTOR: But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

Grace be with you all.

ALL: The Lord is King forever! Hallelujah! Amen.
