The Gospel is True

We have a hope that is living and love that never will end.
We have a God who’s forgiven us while we were yet in sin.

We have a grace that’s amazing; a free gift to know Him by faith,
To live for His praise and long for the day, when we see Him face to face.

Thank You, Jesus. Oh, how we worship You.
Thank You, Jesus. Hallelujah, the gospel is true.

We have been crucified with Him, buried and risen to life.
Now justified, soon glorified, we shall be made like Christ.

Repeat Chorus

We Are the Body of Christ

One heart, one spirit, one voice to praise You. We are the body of Christ.
One goal, one vision to see You exalted. We are the body of Christ.

And to this, we give our lives to see You glorified
One heart, one spirit, one voice to praise You. We are the body of Christ.

CONFESSING OUR SINS

ALL: Merciful God, in your gracious presence we confess our sin. Although Christ is among us as our peace, we are a people divided against ourselves as we cling to the values of a broken world. We pursue profit and pleasures that we should not and harbor jealousy against our neighbors. We abuse your good gifts of freedom, intellect and reason, and have turned them into bonds of oppression.

Lord, have mercy upon us; heal and forgive us. Set us free to serve you in the world as agents of your reconciling love in Jesus Christ. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Isaiah 53:5-6

PASTOR: Hear the promises of God to those who truly repent of their sins and trust in Christ: But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. Now, lift up your hearts!

PEOPLE: We lift them up to the Lord!

CALL TO WORSHIP

from Psalm 29

PASTOR: Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.

PEOPLE: The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic.

PASTOR: The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; The LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the LORD makes the deer to calve, And strips the forests bare, And in His temple everything says, “Glory!”

ALL: The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever. The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.

CONFESSING OUR FAITH

Heidelberg Catechism, 20-23

PASTOR: Are all men saved by Christ just as they perished through Adam?

PEOPLE: No. Only those are saved who by a true faith are grafted into Christ and accept all His benefits.

PASTOR: What is true faith?

PEOPLE: True faith is a sure knowledge whereby I accept as true all that God has revealed to us in His Word. At the same time it is a firm confidence that not only to others, but also to me, God has granted forgiveness of sins, everlasting righteousness, and salvation, out of mere grace, only for the sake of Christ’s merits. This faith the Holy Spirit works in my heart by the gospel.

PASTOR: What, then, must a Christian believe?

PEOPLE: All that is promised us in the gospel, which the articles of our catholic and undoubted Christian faith teach us in a summary.

PASTOR: What are these articles?

ALL: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;
he remained under the power of death.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy apostolic church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

THANKING GOD FOR HIS PRESENCE

PASTOR: We give thanks to you, Lord, for you are good.
ALL: Your love endures forever. Amen.

PREPARING TO HEAR GOD'S WORD

Ensemble & Congregation

Your Love Is Better Than Life

O Lord, You are my Lord, Your ways are higher than mine.
I’ve seen the broken restored; Your love is better than life.

We thirst in a dry weary land, we hunger for Thee.
Lord, rain down as we lift up our hands, your love is better than life.

O God, I stand amazed, how high, how deep, how wide.
My lips offer You praise, “Your love is better than life.”

I stand in the shade of Your wing, my soul clings to Thee.
In the joy of the Lord, will I sing, “Your love is better than life.
Lord, Your love is better than life.”

O Lord, You are my Lord, Your ways are higher than mine.
I’ve seen the broken restored; Your love is better than life,
Your love is better than life. Lord, Your love is better than life.

I Love You, Lord

I love You, Lord, and I lift my voice, to worship You, O my soul, rejoice!
Take joy, my King, in what You hear: May it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear.

RECEIVING GOD'S BLESSING

John 1:14-16; 1 Cor. 16:23

PASTOR: The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John testifies concerning him. He cries out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’” From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.

The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you..

ALL: The Lord is King forever! Hallelujah! Amen.
