PREPARING IN STILLNESS

CHORAL PRAYER

Create in Me a Clean Heart Choir
Create in me a pure heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from Thy Holy Presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation. And uphold me with Thy free Spirit.
Then will I teach transgressors Thy ways, and sinners shall be converted unto Thee.
Create in me a clean heart, O God.

CONFESSING OUR SINS

ALL: Almighty and merciful God, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done. O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare those who confess their faults. Restore those who are penitent, according to your promises declared to the world in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O merciful God, for his sake, that we may live a holy, just, and humble life to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

1 John 2:1-2

PASTOR: Hear the promises of God to those who truly repent of their sins and trust in Christ: If anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. Now, lift up your hearts!

PEOPLE: We lift them up to the Lord!

DRAWING NEAR TO WORSHIP

Ensemble & Congregation

How Deep the Father’s Love for Us

How deep the Father’s love for us, how vast beyond all measure,
That He should give His only Son to make a wretch His treasure!
How great the pain of searing loss; the Father turns His face away,
As wounds which mar the Chosen One bring many sons to glory.

Behold the Man upon the cross, my sin upon His shoulders;
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice call out among the scoffers.
It was my sin that held Him there until it was accomplished;
His dying breath has brought me life— I know that it is finished.

I will not boast in anything, no gifts, no power, no wisdom;
But I will boast in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection.
Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer.
But this I know with all my heart: His wounds have paid my ransom.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Psalm 100

PASTOR:Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

PEOPLE: Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

PASTOR: Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

ALL: For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

RESPONDING IN SONG

Hymn 16

Come, Let Us Sing Unto the Lord (stanzas 1-4)

CONFESSING OUR FAITH

Heidelberg Catechism, 12-15

PASTOR: Since, according to God’s righteous judgment we deserve temporal and eternal punishment, how can we escape this punishment and be again received into favor?

PEOPLE: God demands that His justice be satisfied. Therefore full payment must be made either by ourselves or by another.

PASTOR: Can we ourselves make this payment?

PEOPLE: Certainly not. On the contrary, we daily increase our debt.

PASTOR: Can any mere creature pay for us??

PEOPLE: No. In the first place, God will not punish another creature for the sin which man has committed. Furthermore, no mere creature can sustain the burden of God’s eternal wrath against sin and deliver others from it.

PASTOR>: What kind of mediator and deliverer must we seek?

PEOPLE: One who is a true and righteous man, and yet more powerful than all creatures; that is, one who is at the same time true God.

THANKING GOD FOR HIS PRESENCE

PASTOR: We give thanks to you, Lord, for you are good.
ALL: Your love endures forever. Amen.

DEDICATING OUR LIVES & GIFTS

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. PREPARING TO HEAR GOD'S WORD

Ensemble & Congregation

Glory Be to God, the Father

Glory be to God the Father, glory be to God the Son,
Glory be to God the Spirit: Great Jehovah, Three in One,
Great Jehovah, Three in One.

Glory, glory, glory, glory, while eternal ages run.
Glory, glory, glory, glory, Great Jehovah, Three in One,
Great Jehovah, Three in One.

Glory be to Him who loved us, washed us from each spot and stain;
Glory be to Him who bought us, made us kings with Him to reign,
Made us kings with Him to reign!

Glory, glory, glory, glory, to the Lamb that once was slain.
Glory, glory, glory, glory, made us kings with Him to reign,
Made us kings with him to reign.

Glory, blessing praise eternal! Thus the choir of angels sings,
“Honor, riches, pow’r, dominion!” Thus its praise creation brings,
Thus its praise creation brings.

Glory, glory, glory, glory, glory to the King of kings.
Glory, glory, glory, glory, thus its praise creation brings,
Thus its praise creation brings.
(Repeat last chorus)

As the Deer

As the deer panteth for the water, so my soul longeth after Thee.
You alone are my heart’s desire, and I long to worship Thee.

You alone are my strength, my shield; to You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart’s desire, and I long to worship Thee.

You’re my friend and You are my brother, even though You are a King.
I love You more than any other, so much more than anything.

Repeat Chorus

I want You more than gold or silver, only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver and the apple of my eye.

Repeat Chorus

STATING OUR VISION
