CONFESSING OUR SINS

ALL: Lord Jesus, I sin. Deliver me from attachment to things unclean, from wrong associations, from the sway of evil passions, from the sugar of sin, as well as its bitterness, that with deep contrition, earnest heart searching, I may come to You, cast myself on You, trust in You, cry to You, and be delivered by You.

O God, the Eternal, help me to know that all things are shadows, but You are substance, all things are quicksand, but You are solid ground, all things are shifting, but You are an anchor, all things are ignorance, but You are wisdom. Give me grace to copy Your words, acts, and spirit, to be transformed into Your likeness, to be consecrated wholly to You, and to live entirely to Your glory. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

PASTOR: Hear the promises of God to those who truly repent of their sins and trust in Christ: When we were overwhelmed by sins, you forgave our transgressions. You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins.

Now, lift up your hearts!

CALL TO WORSHIP

PASTOR: People of God, what do we believe?

PEOPLE: We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;
he remained under the power of death.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy apostolic church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

PASTOR: Dear Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray for Dorian and Stacey Grove, and Alice Gay who come to declare publicly their allegiance to your Son our Savior: Deliver them, O Lord, from the way of sin and death. Daily open their hearts to your grace and truth. Fill them with your life-giving Spirit. Keep them in the faith and communion of your holy Church. Enable them to love others in the power of the Spirit. Send them into the world to be a witness to your grace and love. And preserve them until they arrive in their heavenly home to enjoy the fullness of your peace and glory.

ALL: We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign.

PASTOR: I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever!
