Dear Praying Friends,
I accepted the position of Mexico country director for Mission to the World. What this means is that I will have responsibility to encourage the work of MTW all
around Mexico, especially in our relationship with the National Presbyterian Church of Mexico.
After twenty years here, I have excellent relationships not only with my fellow missionaries but also with the leaders of the Mexican Church, which I pray will enable me to serve well in this new capacity.
I accepted the position of Mexico country director for Mission to the World. What this means is that I will have responsibility to encourage the work of MTW all around Mexico, especially in our relationship with the National Presbyterian Church of Mexico. After twenty years here, I have excellent relationships not only with my fellow missionaries but also with the leaders of the Mexican Church, which I pray will enable me to serve well in this new capacity.
What it also means is that I have three full-time jobs as pastor of the church, interim director of the school, and now country director. I end my school responsibilities at the end of December and will be talking with the elders tomorrow about a revised role for me at the church. I will need to travel more, but when I am in Guadalajara, I plan to continue to be involved as part of the pastoral staff of the church. Even though I will have a national focus, ministry is always local, and I ever want to be involved in teaching and preaching the gospel, which is the essence of what missionaries do.
I am hoping that this new position will enable me to do something that I have been trying unsuccessfully to do for years, which is to reduce my involvement in the church in order to make way for others whom God is raising up or bringing our way. With my added responsibilities, this reduction will be not only a theoretical plan but an absolute necessity.
As always, I appreciate and need your prayers, especially as the elders and I navigate the uncharted waters ahead for our congregations in Guadalajara and as I begin to learn what it means to serve the entire MTW Mexico team.
In the grace of Christ,
Larry
