Angel Tree Project a Success
By Ginny WilliamsWIC thanks all who participated in this year's Angel Tree effort. Church members claimed every angel and brought their gifts to the church in a timely manner. The angels were snatched up so swiftly this year that some who had wished to participate did not have the opportunity. Instead, they donated wrapping paper, tape, and/or money. In these financially uncertain times, your response, however expressed, was heart-warming indeed. Everything was done so humbly, anonymously, and gladly!
The gifts we collect go to the Network of Community Ministries, located here in Richardson. The Network serves the poor in a variety of ways. They offer financial help with rent and utilities; maintain a pantry stocked with food and toiletries; collect school supplies in August; make simple home repairs for the elderly; and have programs to help the poor at Christmas. Angel Tree is among those programs. In 2008, the Network served over 2,000 people through their various Christmas activities. It is wonderful to know that the Angel Tree work at Town North was part of a larger effort to put feet on faith in this community — one individual at a time.
